MEDIA
My clinical duties as a family physician allow me to have a direct, lasting impact on a modest segment of my local community. This impact expands exponentially through judicious use of general media.
“ ‘Doctor’ means teacher, from the Latin docere, to teach. It came to refer to people who had achieved great learning... Later, in the 16th century, [‘doctor’] gained a specific medical connotation.” (2) We now live in the 21st century, an age where vast quantities of information inundates the senses. The proliferation of questionable “experts” peddling rather dubious health theories and products (usually at a cost) has led me to understand that my role as teacher can no longer exist solely within the confines of a sterile examination room- it must occur wherever the patient is.
My intentions are simple- to positively contribute to evidence-based conversations on health, to be a signal amidst the noise, and to remain a trusted source that makes difficult topics more accessible.
